Yellowstone News: Star Drops Bombshell Update on Final Season
Yellowstone Star Drops Bombshell Update on Final Season
Josh Lucas is dishing on the upcoming final season of Yellowstone!
The 52-year-old actor has a recurring role in the hit Paramount Network series, portraying the younger version of Kevin Costner‘s John Dutton in flashback sequences.
In a recent interview, Josh shared what he knows about the final season and if he would star in a spinoff prequel centering around his character.
“I texted [creator] Taylor Sheridan a couple months ago, and his response was, ‘Absolutely, we’re going to finish this with 10 episodes or so,’” the actor told ET. “I know as much as you do, but I think we got 10 episodes to kind of wrap it up and I can’t wait to go do it.”
When asked about starring in his own spinoff, Josh was very open to the idea!
“Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I would love it,” he said. “I mean, obviously I love the world Taylor has created. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously the 1800s on. So yeah, I would be there in a second.”
Josh’s interview comes after Yellowstone star Ian Bohen dished on the final chapter schedule.
‘We will go back, rumor has it in May,’ Bohen, 47, who started out as a recurring cast member at the start of the series before joining the main cast in season four, said at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party.
He added that Yellowstone would likely be shooting ‘This summer and then we should be on in November, roughly.’
Bohen also mentioned that the start dates weren’t definite, stating, ‘It could be June.’
He outlined the plan for the series, indicating that they would ‘shoot six episodes’ before airing them, potentially starting in ‘November maybe December.’
Furthermore, he hinted that the series might even schedule its last episode ever for the most significant night of television of the year.
‘Then we go through the holidays and maybe season finale — series finale maybe on Super Bowl,’ the actor remarked.
Yellowstone was initially set to conclude its run with Season 5 Part 2 premiering in November 2023. However, due to production delays caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was postponed to later this year.
The end of the beloved series is reportedly due to the controversial departure of star Costner over scheduling conflicts and Costner’s deteriorating relations with Sheridan.
