In General Hospital storyline, it’s only been a handful of days since Chase and Finn’s father, Gregory, passed away in his sleep. In reality, portrayer Gregory Harrison wrapped up his stint a couple of months ago and has already completed his next project. But he recently made time to sit down with GH’s Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) and Steve Burton (Jason) on their Daily Drama podcast to chat about his time in Port Charles — and opened up about his biggest disappointment in exiting the soap!

“They put me with Jane [Elliot, Tracy] for the last six months or so and we got to play and flirt. If there’s anything I regret about them killing me off as fast as they did, it’s that there was this relationship growing between Gregory and Tracy,” Harrison confessed. “The days that I had scenes with Jane, I was so excited to roll out of bed and go in to work. I never knew what Jane was going to bring, but I knew it was going to be incredible. She’s amazing. She’s a force of nature.”

In fact, Harrison was so sad to see his time with Elliot as a screen partner end that he said he would gladly welcome the opportunity to perform with her again in the future. “If she called me to do anything, I would say ‘Yep, I’m there. I’ll work with you on anything, Jane,’” he added. “Because she blew me away every single day I worked with her.”

Harrison was already a Hollywood veteran when he joined the soap back in 2020, replacing James Reade (Clyde, Days of Our Lives) in the role, but had some major anxiety over doing a soap for the first time in his career. “I’ve done everything else. Books on tape and movies and theater and TV and radio plays…I was just so scared of it,” he confessed. “I don’t know why, because I do theater and I do huge plays and chunks of dialogue. But you get four weeks to rehearse that stuff and learn it. To do this every day… the whole concept of it seemed terrifying to me. And it was.”

The actor added that the job quickly became enjoyable thanks to Elliot and his other co-stars in his “story bubble” — Michael Easton (Finn), Josh Swickard (Chase), and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), whom Harrison likened to working with to “riding a bucking bronco. You just don’t know what she’s going to bring, and she’s full of surprises.”

Looking back at his three and a half years in Port Charles, Harrison said he “felt honored” to have been a part of the GH ensemble. “I loved doing the show. I had a ball with it.”
